A ×5 combo makes every spark worth five times as much, but it cools the moment you stop collecting. Plan your path so sparks come in a steady stream rather than in clumps with long dry stretches. When you see a spark arc ahead, line up early — losing the chain to a half-second gap is the most common way scores stall.
The world slows at a perch, but the decision is easier if you’ve already picked. Your altitude is the choice, so commit to high or low a moment early and glide into it. If both offered relics are weak or you’re already carrying three, just pass through the middle — there’s no penalty for declining.
Cursed relics are powerful, but the cost is real and constant. The Icarus Heart’s downward gusts will end a careless run; the Gambler’s Eye’s razor margin punishes sloppy grazes. Take a curse when its boon matches your craft and its cost matches your skill — a heavy craft can shrug off the Lead Crown’s extra weight, a precise pilot loves the Gambler’s Eye.
Forty sparks held in hand buys you a free comeback mid-run. Early on, that means it’s often worth grabbing sparks even slightly out of your way — a full purse turns one fatal mistake into a second life. The golden firefly, if it’s out, hands you a chunk of that in one catch.
Check the night’s omen on the title screen before you commit a strategy. Under the Spark Flood, lean greedy — every mote pays double. Under the Heavy Moon, fly higher than feels necessary, because everything drops harder. Under the Windless Night, there are no gusts to fight, so push the pace.
Past about 1,150 meters the wind owns the valley. Gusts come thick and the gaps tighten. The Storm Heart relic (every gust becomes a lift) is gold here; failing that, ride the gusts rather than fighting them, and keep a little altitude in reserve so a downdraft doesn’t pin you to the floor.
Reaching 2,000 meters before dawn earns the Breach — the golden ending. It’s a long way, so it rewards a calm, efficient run over a flashy one: protect your craft, take safe relics like Second Skin or a shield-boosting passive, and treat the back half as a survival exercise. The poster you get for outflying the dawn is the best one in the game.
